PGCYD Executive board

Calondra Young is a committed leader and advocate for progressive change in Prince George’s County. As Executive Vice President of the Prince George’s County Young Democrats, she works to empower young voices and increase civic engagement. With a background in grassroots organizing and community outreach, Calondra has driven efforts to boost voter registration and address key issues like education and social justice. She is passionate about building strategic partnerships and developing programs that reflect the values of young people in the community, aiming to foster an inclusive political environment.

Launai Wells is a born and raised Georgia native. For more than six years, Launai has worked in government and politics, in sectors such as lobbying, consulting state and 

local agencies, and with local organizations.In 2020, Launai received her bachelor's degree in political science from Alabama State University with a minor in communication 

studies. Launai is currently a graduate student at George Washington University, where she is studying to receive her master’s degree in political management.  

Launai served as a political and government contract associate to Adams Buckner Advisors in New York City. She worked alongside this firm during their contract with Climate Jobs New York, as they worked towards Carbon Free and Healthy Schools in New York City. Launai also served as an associate for Adams Buckner Advisors as they worked with Uber, CVS, and Bird Company on multiple legislative initiatives. 

Launai founded Launai Wells Consulting and Management to work with individuals in the political and business sector. She works on a plethora of political campaigns and has consulted individuals on their small businesses. Launai has also served as a political cohort instructor for Dare to Run, LLC, based in New York City. There she worked alongside other instructors to provide valuable education for women learning the fundamentals of politics and how to run for public office. 

Launai brings her communication skills, research skills, planning capabilities, and political expertise to her firm and to her work with clients throughout several states in the United States. Her skills have been greatly honed from her previous work with substantial organizations and other firms. She is a prominent member of The National Honor Society of Leadership and Success, and a proud Sigma Alpha Pi Inductee. Launai speaks at workshops, conferences, and other professional events throughout the year, and has a fiery passion for the knowledge and skills that she is able to pass along to others.

Anthony Nelson, born and raised in New Orleans, has worked in the Democratic Party for over 15 years. First working as a staffer for the joint campaign of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and Obama for America, helping to elect Don Cazayoux in Louisiana's 6th Congressional District and the soon to be President Barack Obama. After the campaign ended, he managed several campaigns for the local school board in Baton Rouge and the Louisiana state Legislature, eventually leading the gubernatorial campaign for Louisiana Democratic Party candidate Tara Hollis in 2011. 

Anthony also served as the President of the Young Democrats of Louisiana, and was instrumental in the growth of the organization. Anthony was selected to serve on the local housing authority board, focusing on affordable housing development and wrap around social services for residents. Anthony later joined the campaign for Democratic Party candidate Hillary Clinton, working to mobilize voters in New Orleans. 

Throughout his tenure, Anthony has been passionate on issues that affect us all, such as better funding public education, reducing the cost of living, and has been a strong advocate for reducing homelessness and childhood poverty. He has made Prince George's County his home and is helping to tackle the issues of his community. Anthony has a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science with a Minor in Behavioral Sciences from Prairie View A&M University.

O'Marie Barnes is a Junior at Crossland High School who serves in numerous capacities. He is a business owner, advocate, and academic. He is proud to have founded the Barnes and Scott Youth Law Camp to meet the needs of law-oriented students across the state. In addition, O'Marie was recently appointed to Congressmen Glenn Ivey's Safe Streets Advisory Board and his Youth Advisory Board. In this capacity, he provides insight into youth and public safety issues in his district. He is also a current member of the Maryland Civic Education Coalition, demonstrating his dedication to civic understanding. O'Marie is excited to run the membership apparatus for PGCYD this year. One of his primary goals is growing the general body by reaching high school students. 

My name is Rashad Dwayne Lloyd it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I’ve been living in New Carrollton since 1998 and I attended Carrollton Elementary, Charles Carroll, and Parkdale. I went to college only long enough to realize that it wasn’t for me and if no one has ever told you that’s okay. I want to share two of my core beliefs because it will aid you in understanding my mindset.

1. Those who desire power are unworthy of it. A desire for power corrupts a person.
2. Money doesn’t belong in politics. It corrupts the process.

The only other thing important to me is getting to hear what’s important to you.
